Once upon a time at the end of a long twisted path was a house, it was Mara of the Rose's house...

The path was so long and twisted that anyone who ever attempted to try to get to see the magical woman they called Mara of the Rose, always gave up! Thus, Mara lived all alone with only the animals in the forest. She learned a lot from the animals and nature, but had no one to talk to for many years. But one bright summery day when she was out gathering herbs, underneath an old log was a little creature that looked like a little man! You guessed it - it was a Gnome! His name was Knarf.

Mara knew all about gnomes, but this was the first time she had the privilege of really getting to know a gnome. She told Knarf how lonely she was and that no one visited her because she lived so far away! But that was soon over. Knarf brought all of his family and friends over to meet Mara. After that day, Mara had plenty of company. In fact, gnomes from all over the world knew where they could get a good meal, and some good conversation! Now Mara of the Rose learned even more from the gnomes. She only wished that someday she could tell you all she knew.
Sadly, Mara just grew older and wiser, but had no one to share her wisdom with. As time went on she would look in the mirror and see more and more wrinkles appearing. Sometime she would laugh, wondering who the old woman staring back at her was! And other times she became sad when she realized how quickly she was growing old. She began to think she resembled the old wicked "witch" in "Sleeping Beauty," but Mara was from being wicked. In fact, she was one of the kindest people in the whole world, but she had no one to share her kindness with.
Most of the evenings during the summer, Mara would join the gnomes in the grove as they told stories around a fire. Mara told the story of 'Sleeping Beauty' and the old hag who gave the beautiful princess the poisoned apple. To the gnomes, hags were not necessarily looked upon as evil, but rather wise old women! They really didn't like the part about the poisoned apple, especially when Mara said that she was beginning to feel like the old hag! Of course, the gnomes didn't see Mara as an ugly old hag, but rather a very beautiful, wise and very kind person.
Knarf had an idea after Mara finished her story. He excitedly told the other gnomes. "That is what Mara needs - an Apple!" The other gnomes were disturbed and angry that Knarf would think of such a thing-an apple for Mara! They thought old Knarf had lost it! Who would want to give a poisoned apple to Mara?
But you see, Knarf was a very intelligent gnome who had kept up with modern technology!
Soon it was that time of the year when the gnomes all had to head to the North Pole, leaving Mara all alone. They were very sad, except for Knarf, who had something else on his mind. He had a special favor to ask the most famous gnome of all, Santa. His request, "Santa we know a very special lady who needs an Apple!"
Santa's eyes twinkled, as he replied,"I know just what you mean and who you are talking about, and there is one already to load on my sleigh!"
Now the other gnomes thought what ever went wrong with Knarf, Santa had it too!
And that was exactly what happened. Santa brought Mara an Apple that Christmas-a brand new Mac that is! And ever since then she has been busy putting together stories, recipes and a lot of other surprises! Mara can talk to the whole world from her Apple computer and still live way off in the distant forest on that long and twisted path. This wonderful mystic can share the wisdom she has acquired from nature, the gnomes and the woodland creatures with the whole world now!
Visit the Gnome Home and Mara often, as she frequently adds new stories, helpful hints, recipes, and some wise old ideas that she sends to you with a lot of love!
